Extended reality, also known as XR, was once discussed in the same hushed and reverent tones reserved for futuristic technologies like flying cars and robot housekeepers. Talk of merging the physical and virtual worlds was considered out there. That paradigm has shifted. XR is becoming real, one use case at a time. We’re now living in a world where multiple business units and functions are bringing the power of 3D content and XR into their ways of working.

In this podcast, Jakrey Myers, associate director of product engineering and management with Thermo Fisher Scientific, talks with Accenture’s Nathan King, technologist, strategist and architect, and Luciana Jaalouk, program lead for complex and creative delivery, about a recent 3D management system proof of concept. Accenture, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Amazon Web Services (AWS) co-created it to develop a system model that houses, organizes and delivers 3D content at scale.

Listen to this podcast to hear about:

  • What 3D content is solving and its impact on XR.

  • Common pitfalls teams encounter when attempting to implement metaverse strategies and bring 3D content to life.

  • A real-world showcase of what Thermo Fisher Scientific’s 3D content management system could really look like.

  • The collaboration between the three crucial players in this story.

  • What makes working with 3D assets so special and complex.

  • Where to go from here considering 3D is not a future play. It’s happening now.
